DEVO. 08.19.24
“Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood, and even the stones and the dust; it also licked up the water in the trench.” (1 Kings 18:38 AMP)
- To consume means to ”do away with or to use up completely.”
- A synonym is “to devour”
- When the fire of God fell on Elijah’s sacrifice, it completely devoured it.
- Do you know that in Hebrews 12:29, it says “Our God is a consuming fire.”
- His fire is a symbol of His holiness.
- 1Peter 1:15 says “But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”
- How are you going to be Holy?
- The answer is, when your life becomes that sacrifice.
- In Romans 12:1, the Apostle Paul urges us to “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
- We become that sacrifice when we say, “God, Consume me! You can have all of me!”
- Not just part of me or my obvious weaknesses but “ALL”
- When was the last time that you said to God, “God, consume me!”
- The Fire that fell in Elijah’s day was followed by revival and that is the only way that we will experience a revival in our day!
- When we say, “God, take over!”
- May your prayer, today be, “God, Devour me!”, Take all of my selfishness and pride so that I am Holy & pleasing to you!”
- Revival begins with you!
- Have a great Monday!
