DEVO. 01.06.26
“But the serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die!” (Genesis 3:4 AMP)
- Whose voice are you listening to?
- In this scripture, Eve clearly stopped and took a moment to listen to the voice of the serpent.
- He didn’t speak long, he presented a question.
- The serpent said, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”” (Genesis 3:1)
- “Did God really say?”
- This whole sin problem could have been stopped right there with the right answer.
- Eve listened to the question and responded, but her response was misquoting God.
- She said, ““It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’””
- She was partially right and partially wrong.
- God did say they were not allowed to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil but He did not say that she was not allowed to touch it.
- And that’s where deception begins.
- Two things are clear. She did not know the right voice (Truth) and she listened to the wrong voice (the liar)
- When you listen to a lie, you embrace the liar.
- Instead of going back to Truth and saying, “Is this what you said?,” she fully embraced a lie.
- We need to be careful with God’s Word!
- Jesus said, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.””(John 8:32)
- In order to not be deceived, we all need to know Truth!
- Truth is found in the person of Jesus Christ!
- Know Him and know His words!
- Walk with Him! Study His word for yourself so that you have no doubt what He said and says!
- Know Truth inside and out and He will keep you free from deception and you will walk in freedom.
- It’s not enough to know about Truth. You must truly “Know Him!”
- Have a great Tuesday!
