DEVO 10.13.26

“The LORD was with the people of Judah, and they took possession of the hill country. But they failed to drive out the people living in the plains, who had iron chariots.”
Judges 1:19 NLT
- The children of Israel were commanded to drive out all of the inhabitants of the land.
- This might seem cruel to us, but these were pagan Idol worshipers.
- They did not know God or worship God.
- They were opposed to God and this was God‘s land.
- God was establishing a pure land, where his people could worship him
- In Numbers 33:52, the children of Israel were instructed “you must drive out all the people living there. You must destroy all their carved and molten images and demolish all their pagan shrines.”
- They were instructed to drive out all! Not some but all!
- This is a principle that God gives his people and it’s an illustration, today in New Testament times!
- Anything that you allow to remain, spiritually, can become a stronghold in your life.
- It is a picture of sin in our life. Things that are not of God.
- Any sin that you tolerate will eventually dominate!
- We have to remove what God tells us to remove
- Anything that is unwholesome and ungodly in our life must be kicked out or it has the potential to take over
- In 1 Peter 2:1, it says “get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.”
- If we don’t take care of the little things, they will become big things and they will eventually take over.
- The children of Israel were eventually driven out of their own land because they let little things become big things!
- In the same way, don’t let little sins remain in your life.
- Don’t let the little things become big things and eventually take over!
- Colossians 3:5 says, “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.”
- in verse 16 he says, “Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.”
- Get rid of the sinful things in order to make room for Gods Word and pure things!
- Have a great Tuesday!
