DEVO. 08.27.26
“The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and glorious day of the Lord arrives. But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”
(Acts 2:20-21 NLT)
- The day was the day of Pentecost.
- It was a feast of the Lord.
- They were celebrating the time when the Lord gave the children of Israel the Word through Moses.
- In Acts 2: 1 it says, “On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place.”
- The disciples were all praying together.
- And then in verse 2 it says, ““Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. “Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.”
- What an amazing display of Gods presence and power, but it could have been easy to miss it!
- Those who experienced this outpouring of the Holy Spirit were those who were praying together and watching and waiting.
- They were being obedient to the Lords command.
- And because of this outpouring, Peter stood up and prophesied, “The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and glorious day of the Lord arrives.”
- How important was it for the disciples to be watching, praying and waiting for what God had for them?
- Extremely important, Right?
- And just as important, we should be watching and waiting for the Lords return.
- Jesus encourages us to “stand and look up, for your salvation is near!””(Luke 21:28)
- We just had a solar eclipse on August 12th. That is the sun turning dark.
- Today we have the “the moon will turn blood red”
- This is all before Jesus returns.
- Could this be the year where he comes back for his bride?
- I don’t know, but I do know that God is getting our attention!
- We need to be watching and waiting.
- Look up!
- Prepare your heart and prepare your life. This is not a time to be complacent and apathetic.
- Jesus could be returning soon.
- Come Lord Jesus!
- Have a great Thursday!
