DEVO. 08.26.226

“But an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up and go south to the road that runs from Jerusalem down to Gaza.” (Acts‬ ‭8‬:‭26‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

- Have you ever felt like our version of the Gospel looks nothing like the New Testament?

- I was reading along today and came across Acts 8:26.

- I read “an angel of the Lord said to Philip” and I move right along to the rest of the story as if an angel talking to me happens every day.

- I should stop and say, “Wow! An angel spoke to Philip and he knew it was an angel and he knew what the angel had to say and he followed the instructions of the angel!”

- When he follows the direction of the angel, he meets “The treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship,” (v. 27)

- ‭Then ‭“The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.”(v. 29)

- ‭‭He can distinguish the difference from the voice of the Holy Spirit and the voice of an angel!

- When He encounters the Ethiopian eunuch, he finds him reading the prophet Isaiah and asking for someone to explain what he just read.

- Philip share the gospel, the eunuch gets saved and then they pass a body of water and he asks to be baptized, indicating that he fully understands the gospel and salvation!

- Wow!

- Why do we just read over all that?

- You will not find this method of evangelism in any evangelism training class.

- There is no step 1-4 method of sharing the gospel.

- It all begins with an encounter!

- That’s not common, at least not to me but we read it, many times, without the “wow factor”!

- My heart and prayer is that we would read the message of the Bible and that our hearts would burn for more of the presence of the Holy Spirit.

- We need to desire authentic encounters for ourselves!

- I pray that we would read it, realize that this is New Testament times and say, God if you can do it for him then God you can do it for me!

- My desire is to truly know Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, like this and I pray that you desire that as well.

- That means that we’ve got to set aside more time for prayer and more time in the Word.

- It means less entertainment and more time in His presence!

- It means “He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” (John‬ ‭3‬:‭30‬)

- Let’s take all limitations off of our faith and ask God to speak to us and use us however He wants, wherever He wants and whenever he wants!

- Nothing is impossible with God!

- Have a great Wednesday!
