DEVO. 08.12.26

“…The disciples were terrified and amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!” (‭‭Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭25‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- Jesus had told his disciples to get in a boat and cross to the other side of the lake.

- As they sailed, Jesus took a nap.

- While he was napping, a huge storm came upon them.

- V23 says, “The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger.”

- ‭‭Do you ever feel like that is a picture of your life?

- That maybe you were sailing along and all of a sudden your life is being hit by financial storms, health storms or storms of broken relationships?

- The problems have gotten so bad that the boat of your life is filling with water?

- You may even feel overwhelmed.

- Without a doubt, this is the time to call on Jesus but this is also the time to learn from Jesus!

- These are disciples and the goal of every disciple is to do what their rabbi has taught them to do!

- Watch what Jesus did.

- Jesus stood up and spoke out and rebuked the wind and the waves.

- Jesus commanded the wind to stop!

- Then Jesus said, “Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?”

- That’s a real question.

- When the storm is all around you, where is your faith?

- Do you know that this was not just a demonstration but an illustration that they themselves could follow.

- As a disciple of Jesus Christ, having the Holy Spirit living within you, you don’t have to live in fear at any storm you are facing.

- If it is any fear, like sickness, debt, brokenness of any kind, use the Word of God and command it to leave.

- The word of God and the person of Jesus Christ is your authority!

- Don’t live in fear of what you don’t know , walk in the authority of what you do know!

- Today, Jesus is with you and He has shown you what to do and how to act.

- All authority has been given to you by Jesus!

- He said, in Matthew 28:18, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations…”

- In other words go and do as He has done!

- Your authority is in ‭Jesus!

- Don’t live in fear, live in faith!
