“Be careful to obey all these commands I am giving you. Show love to the Lord your God by walking in his ways and holding tightly to him.” (Deuteronomy 11:22 NLT)
- When do you tell someone or your kids to be careful?
- When you say “Be Careful” it is because you want them to be safe!
- There may be some important things they need to know in order to be safe and succeed!
- These words are the secret of their success!
- These words are for every believer!
- Moses is telling the children of Israel this before they walk into the land that the Lord promised them.
- In order to walk in and occupy and thrive in this Land, he said, “Be careful to obey all these commands I am giving you. Show love to the Lord your God by walking in his ways and holding tightly to him.”
- He said three things!
- First He said “Obey”
- Obey the Lords commands!
- Second, he said, “walk in His ways”
- And third he said, “Hold tightly to him” or hold tightly to His word!
- Obey, walk in, and hold tight!
- These three things go together and seem pretty simple to follow if we want to have a successful relationship with Jesus.
- If you say it backwards, you would say, “If I hold tightly to Him, I will walk in His ways, and I will obey”
- That seems simple.
- But think of how easy it is to loosen our grip on Jesus and start grabbing hold of other things that make us feel secure.
- Jesus said, in the New Testament, ““If you love me, obey my commandments.”(John 14:15)
- In other words, the evidence that you love me is found in your obedience to my commands.
- Today, pay attention to what or who you are holding tightly to.
- Because wherever they go, you will go and that is what you will obey!
- Your obedience is dependent on who you are holding onto!
- Have a great Tuesday!
