DEVO 08.10.26

“Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”” ‭‭(Luke‬ ‭7‬:‭50‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

- What does your faith look like this morning?

- In this scripture, this woman’s faith was on display!

- Everyone took notice!

- Not because of anything she said, but because of what she did!

- Jesus had come into the home of a religious leader. Someone that everyone assumed was already righteous!

- She was known as an immoral woman! That’s her identity. She was dirty!

- The religious leader was known as clean.

- Yet, Jesus commended the immoral woman and not the religious leader.

- While Jesus was sitting there, this immoral woman brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. "Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them.” (Luke‬ ‭7‬:‭37‬-‭38‬)

- The expression of love was so great because she knew she was a sinner.

- She also knew that she was undeserving of the grace and mercy of the Lord but she desired it!

- Jesus said, “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”” (Luke‬ ‭7‬:‭47‬ )

- After everyone had judged her and condemned her and questioned her motive, Jesus said, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

- Her actions spoke louder than any words!

- Jesus saw her faith through her actions!

- Today, like this woman, don’t forget what you’ve been forgiven of!

- Remember!

- Remember what you are guilty of and what you have been forgiven of!

- Tell the Lord how thankful you are of His love, mercy and grace.

- Don’t become so stuffy and religious that you have forgotten how to express your love to Him!

- Don’t have an attitude that says you have earned or deserve His grace.

- Be extravagant!

- Remember and express your thankfulness.

- Show your world around you today, how much you love him!
