DEVO. 08.01.26

“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” (Luke‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

- What is the thing that you most often do?

- The thing that you intentionally do, most often is what will define you?

- Do you text?

- Scroll through the internet or social media?

- Watch tv or the news?

- At least 15 times in the gospels, Jesus is recorded, getting away, by himself, to pray.

- It wasn’t just formality, it was a necessity.

- He had to get away with His Heavenly Father to receive wisdom, guidance and instruction.

- In John 5:19, “Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.”

- ‭‭So if Jesus could do only what He saw His Father doing, how did He see His Father?

- Only in isolated quiet places where there were no distractions.

- If that’s what Jesus needed, how much more important is it for us?

- We desperately need to see Jesus!

- Before we respond to that text or make that post.

- Before we take that call or respond to a problem.

- We need to see Jesus!

- You will find Him in isolated places!

- Not in the business and the flashy places.

- In the lonely places where you can sense His presence.

- The places where He can gently speak to your heart.

- When the activity of this world is pressing in around you, walk away and get to a lonely place until the only voice that you hear is His voice!

- Wait on Him.

- Get away with Him!

- Have a great weekend!
