DEVO. 07.22.26

“But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭59‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

- King Saul had sent men to watch David’s house with the intention of killing him.

- While he is being watched, David comes up with this song!

- “But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.” (Psalms‬ ‭59‬:‭16‬)

- “But as for me” means that everyone else would most likely be talking about the soldiers surrounding him.

- The natural thing would be to be afraid but David sees something different.

- David sees the unfailing love of God and begins to sing about it!

- He says, “You have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.”

- David’s safety did not depend on his own weapons or ability to fight.

- David’s safety was found in the presence of the Lord.

- He is so at peace that he is able to make a song about it.

- David’s reality, was the unfailing love of God!

- That’s all that he could see!

- How about you?

- How big is your problem?

- It could be a physical problem, a relationship problem, a financial problem, or an emotional problem.

- It doesn’t matter what form the problem comes in. Our God is still greater than the problem!

- Have you been talking about it and worried about your problem?

- Are you unable to see a way to fix your current mess?

- Do you feel trapped with no way to escape?

- That’s exactly how David was except He chose to look and see a greater reality! His reality was the presence of God!

- David prays to God and says, “Wake up! See what is happening and help me!” (Psalms‬ ‭59‬:‭4‬)

- David is taking his problem and making it God’s problem!

- And when you turn your problem over to God, you will be able to sing because He will give you eyes to see the victory!

- You will be able to sing, like David, because He is your refuge. He is your safe place when you are distressed.

- Today, stop carrying your problems and throw them at the feet of Jesus.

- Turn them over to your Lord and Savior.

- Your answers are found in His presence!

- Have a great Wednesday!
