DEVO. 05.24.27

“While being together and eating with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Of which,” He said,“you have heard Me speak.”

‭‭(Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬ ‭AMP‬‬)

- Wait!

- They had gathered together, obeyed His instructions and now they wait!

- How could anything great or miraculous happen?

- Don’t you need Jesus For the miraculous?

- He was gone. He had ascended into heaven right before their eyes!

- But He said to wait!

- “On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”” (Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

- He said “wait for the gift my father promised”

- He didn’t say how long to wait.

- He jus said “wait”

- Jesus had never lied to them before.

- But could they wait for this promise which they had never seen?

- Could they wait without Jesus being there with them?

- But good things come to those who wait!

- They had to Trust, Obey and have faith!

- And because they waited, Jesus delivered on His promise!

- Acts 1:9 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.””

- How about you?

- ‭‭are you waiting on a promise?

- Are you trusting Jesus for a miracle?

- Let me encourage you to get in the word, pray and keep on praying and seeking His face.

- Don’t give up!

- Your miracle is on its way!

- Enjoy the wait and the lessons you learn in the wait!

- Now look, in Acts 2:2 it says, “Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

- ‭‭Do you think it was worth the wait?

- You’d better believe it!

- And your wait will be worth it too!
