DEVO. 05.07.26

“Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”” (‭‭Mark‬ ‭4‬:‭38‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

- What does the word “Peaceful” look like to you?

- To me, it looks like Jesus sleeping on a cushion!

- The world around him was in chaos but he was getting a good nights sleep.

- Many times we expect everyone around us to be as “worked up” as we are about our storm.

- Or we expect everyone to be as stressed out as we are about our storm!

- But the reality is this, when Jesus is in your boat, there is no place and no room for fear and anxiety.

- Jesus (The Prince of Peace ) stands up and meets the storm with Peace.

- Jesus is giving us an example to follow.

- When Jesus woke up, He spoke out!

- His mouth opened and He spoke!

- Verse 39 says, “He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” (Mark‬ ‭4‬:‭39‬)

- He got up!

- When He woke up and got up, had the wind stopped blowing? No

- When He woke up, had the waves stopped crashing? No

- When He woke up, the storm was as ferocious as ever. But then He spoke up!

- He had a choice.

- He could let the Storm control His emotions or be the one who is in complete control!

- He got up and said, “Quiet! Be still!”

- His Words were filled with the authority of His name

- How Words were spoken with power!

- When He spoke, once again, all creation had to obey!

- Today, don’t let your storm control your mind, will and emotions.

- Don’t allow a storm to shake you up!

- Just speak the Word of God with the authority of God, in the name of Jesus!

- 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

- ‭‭Let the Peace of God fill your Heart and mind!

- When the storms of life come, remember who’s in your boat!

- Remember He showed you how to win your battle.

- Stand up, speak out, in the name of Jesus!

- Tell your storm to be quiet and be still!

- Do it in His name and do it in Jesus’ authority!

- Then watch your storm bow to the authority of His name!

- Jesus! He is the name above all names!
