DEVO. 03.16.24
”Awe fell upon the whole neighborhood, and the news of what had happened spread throughout the Judean hills.“ (Luke 1:65 NLT)
- This scripture says that “Awe” fell upon the whole neighborhood and news spread.
- What would cause awe to fall upon everyone?
- In this story, Zechariah was told earlier that his wife, who was old and beyond childbearing years, that they would have a baby.
- He was told that his name would be John, not being named after his father, Zechariah.
- His is response was that of doubt.
- He said, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years.” (Luke 1:18)
- The angel Gabriel Responded, ”Since you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born.” (Luke 1:20)
- Silence for not having faith and speaking the word of the Lord.
- Then once Elizabeth gave birth and they “were going to name him after his father Zechariah,“ (1:59)
- Zechariah who still was unable to speak, asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.”
- Then the Lord opened his mouth to speak again.
- Then it says, “Awe fell upon the whole neighborhood”
- The end result is an awesome experience!
- Do you want the awe of God to fill you and everyone around you?
- Then speak what God wants you to speak from the “secret place”.
- It comes from spending time in His presence.
- When you don’t speak what God wants you to speak it ends up in doubt and confusion.
- Today I pray that “the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart would be pleasing in His sight”. (Psalms 19:14)
- Today, ask God to share His word with you.
- Your job is to receive His Word, carry His Word and share it!
- That’s how you bring the awe of the Lord and spread the awe!
- Have a great weekend!
