DEVO. 07.28.25
“But Jehoshaphat called out [for God’s help], and the Lord helped him; and God diverted them away from him.” (2 Chronicles 18:31 AMP)
- Jehoshaphat was the king of Judah.
- Jehoshaphat was a godly King and God had blessed him and his kingdom.
- In an effort to keep peace, Jehoshaphat made an unholy alliance with, Ahab, the king of Israel and went into battle with him.
- The king of Israel was disguised so that no one knew who he was on the battlefield but Jehoshaphat wore his royal robes.
- In 2 Chronicles 18:31, it says that “when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat [of Judah], they said, “It is the king of Israel!”
- Everyone is chasing after the king in order to kill him.
- Killing the king is their ultimate goal and it seals the victory!
- This looks like certain death until you look at the last half of v.31.
- “So they turned to fight against him, but Jehoshaphat called out [for God’s help], and the Lord helped him; and God diverted them away from him.”
- Jehoshaphat called out to God for help and God diverted the enemy away from him!
- Do you feel like you have a target on your back and the enemy is trying to attack you and everything important to you
- Has he attacked your finances, your family and your faith?
- 1 Peter 5:8 says you do have a real enemy and you need to “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (NIV)
- He’s not playing around and he is out to destroy you.
- The very next verse says, “Resist him, standing firm in the faith…”
- In order to resist him you must call on the name of the Lord.
- Acknowledge God’s greatness and His love for you.
- After you acknowledge Him, ask Him to divert the enemy away from you!
- It’s a prayer of diversion.
- Seek the Lord and bring Him into the middle of the battle and ask the Lord to divert the attacks of the enemy somewhere else. Anywhere else!
- Let the Lord fight this battle for you!
- That day, Ahab (who didn’t listen to the prophet of the Lord) died but Jehoshaphat’s life was preserved.
- The Lord diverted the enemy away from Jehoshaphat but God spared His life.
- He can do the same for you!
- Have a great Monday!
