DEVO. 06.09.25
“This woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’” (Luke 18:5 NLT)
- “This woman”
- Does this woman describe your prayer life?
- Would you ever be accused of driving God crazy because of your constant requests and petitions?
- Jesus doesn’t care how eloquent you are or how your prayers appear to others.
- He doesn’t care if you sound formal or informal.
- It’s all about your personal passion and sincerity of heart
- This is Jesus teaching a lesson.
- The lesson is that they “should always pray and never give up.” (Luke 18:1)
- Always pray & Never Give up!
- It’s like a child who keeps tapping their parent’s leg to get their attention for something that they want their parent to buy but they don’t have the money.
- It’s asking and asking and asking and asking!
- It’s putting yourself at the complete mercy of another.
- It’s humble and dependent.
- This woman in this example doesn’t care what she looks like or how it sounds to others.
- It’s a desperate plea!
- But not just desperate, it’s desperate and relentless!
- This is what we are being instructed by our teacher Jesus to do.
- So today, pull out a piece of paper and write down your needs to the Lord!
- Then when they are clear and specific, call on the name of your righteous judge.
- He says: “Don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night?” (18:7)
- Hold him to his word.
- Our problem is that we become too dependent on ourselves and less dependent on him.
- Ask him as if there is no other solution to your problem or request unless God responds!
- No plan “B”
- No alternate!
- Jesus says, “I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly!
- Quickly!
- He goes on to say, “But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?” (18:8 )
- This is all about faith!
- Will he find you?
- Have a great Monday!
