DEVO. 04.30.25
“Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared!” (Luke 24:31 NLT)
- Can your eyes see? I mean really see?
- Two of Jesus’ disciples thought that they were seeing when in reality they were only partially seeing!
- They knew the things of Jesus and the activities of Jesus, but they had not really “seen” Jesus
- They were on a 7 mile journey when suddenly Jesus joined them
- Verse 16 says that “God kept them from recognizing him.”
- Why would God keep them from recognizing Him?
- Could it be that He wanted them to ask more questions, dig a little deeper and hold on a little longer?
- As they were walking, they were talking of all that Jesus had done
- They talked as blind people.
- They hadn’t really seen!
- As they walked, verse 27 says, “Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.”
- I can’t imagine a better teaching!
- But yet, they still didn’t see.
- Then, Jesus acted as if He was going to walk on.
- But they begged him to stay.
- They begged for more!
- Can you imagine if they had let him go?
- That would have been the end of the story.
- I wonder how many times we let Jesus go with a small amount of revelation!
- How many times do we become satisfied with a little picture when Jesus has a Huge revelation waiting for us.
- Their begging Jesus to stay actually led to the “Eye opening experience!”
- Verse 31 says, “Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.
- When was the last time you begged to spend more time with Jesus.
- Usually it’s just the opposite. We say the preaching is too long.
- We want the devotional to get right to the point.
- We ask for the microwave teaching when God has a slow cooked wholesome meal prepared for us.
- Are you hungry for a true eye opening experience?
- Don’t be satisfied with a little touch.
- Beg him to stay!
- Say, “Jesus, stay with me a little longer!”
- Linger in His presence!
- Matthew5:6 says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
- hungering and thirsting means that you go beyond the average!
- It means that you hang on till you can’t hang on any longer!
- Stay with Him until you are filled and overflowing!
- Today, beg Him to stay!
- Have a great Wednesday!
