DEVO. 04.17.25
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41 NKJV)
- To watch and pray means to be actively watching and praying.
- It is an engaging process.
- They were supposed to be engaged physically, mentally, emotionally and especially spiritually!
- Jesus was with His disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane.
- When he went off to pray, He wanted them to stay there and pray as well but they fell asleep.
- He came back and woke them up and they fell back to sleep!
- They were exhausted and they didn’t know the significance and the importance of the time.
- Instead of using the time to pray, they slept.
- Jesus says, “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
- In other words, if you are not engaged physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually then you will give in to temptation.
- Our enemy, the Devil, takes no days off and his goal is to steal kill and destroy your Christian life!
- He wants to silence your witness and extinguish your fire!
- He wants you tired, worn out and asleep!
- He wants to defeat you mentally & emotionally.
- That’s his tactic.
- When you are tired and sleeping, you will not sense and see the spiritual attack around you.
- A Christian who does not pray, is a defeated Christian.
- A Christian who does not pray is someone who will rely on their natural senses and physical strength to accomplish kingdom activity.
- That is impossible!
- Jesus’ words are not just for his disciples back then but they are especially for us right now.
- In Luke 12:40 Jesus tells us to “be continually ready; because the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect.”” (Luke 12:40 AMP)
- Jesus is returning and He is coming back for those who are watching and praying!
- Will he find you ready?
