“When the people of Israel saw the mighty power that the Lord had unleashed against the Egyptians, they were filled with awe before him. They put their faith in the Lord and in his servant Moses.” ‭‭(Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭31‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- We hear people throw around the word, “awesome”, excessively!

- That car is “awesome.”

- Those clothes are “awesome.”

- That house is “awesome.”

- That is “awesome” pizza!

- The excessive use of 'awesome' has watered down its meaning.

- How could a house be equivalent to a pizza?

- When does the Bible use the word “awe”?

- In Exodus 14:31, it says that the children of Israel were “...filled with awe!”

- What caused the children of Israel to be filled with awe?

- Exodus 14:31, “When the people of Israel saw the mighty power that the Lord had unleashed against the Egyptians, they were filled with awe before him. They put their faith in the Lord and in his servant Moses.”

- ‭‭They saw the power of the Lord!

- They were witnesses to His greatness and His might.

- They experienced His deliverance.

- They saw Him do something that couldn’t be done.

- The power of God was on display!

- But how did they see Him do the impossible?

- They put themselves in the position to need the impossible?

- When was the last time you put yourself in the position to see God do something that only He could do?

- Literally impossible for you but only possible if God intervenes?

- Maybe it’s your health.

- Maybe it’s your finances.

- Maybe it’s a relationship that seems beyond repair.

- Maybe it’s a job.

- Most of the time we want to see the miraculous, but we are afraid to step out into the unknown.

- We want the miracle, but most of us don’t want to be in the position that requires a miracle.

- God wants to take you out of your Egypt, and bring you to the waters edge of the Red Sea.

- The Red Sea is the “risk.”

- It’s the body of water that stands between your past and the promises of God!

- It’s the place where you are most vulnerable and the awesomeness of God is required.

- But the truth is, you will never experience the awesomeness of God if you remain “safe”.

- At some point, you’ve got to step out!

- Today, God wants to display His awesome power through your ordinary life.

- What area of your life do you need to take a step of faith?

- When He shows you His power, your definition of “awesome” will never be the same again!
