DEVO. 02.27.25

“Then the Lord asked him, “What is that in your hand?” “A shepherd’s staff,” Moses replied.” (‭‭Exodus‬ ‭4‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- God had just appeared to Moses and revealed Himself to Him as, “I AM”

- He appeared to Moses “in flames of fire from within a bush” (Exodus 3:2)

- The Lord called Him by name and revealed His Purpose and His plan!

- When God tells Moses to “Go”, Moses responds by saying, “Who am I”?

- Even after Moses had heard directly from God, Moses still doubted his own ability.

- Then God asked him what was in his hand. Moses response is, “A shepherd’s staff”

- God tells him to take that simple staff and throw it on the ground.

- “So Moses threw down the staff, and it turned into a snake! Moses jumped back.” (4:3)

- ‭‭You may be wondering, “Why a snake?” Maybe, you will dig into the meaning of the snake.

- Here is the simple answer, “God can use anything that we have in our hands, to use any way that He wants, for His choosing, for the person who will follow & obey Him.”

- You notice, the staff did not turn into a snake until Moses obeyed the Lord.

- Moses could have listened to the Lord all day long and heard the truth from Gods heart, but nothing would have happened until Moses released the stick from his hand and obeyed.

- Faith is an action word!

- Faith obeys!

- As soon as Moses obeyed, the Miracle happened.

- Then, later, we see in Exodus‬ ‭4‬:‭20‬, as Moses obeyed the Lord and “headed back to the land of Egypt. In his hand he carried the staff of God.”

- ‭‭It’s not Moses’ staff anymore! It’s God’s staff!

- It’s been re-named, and re-claimed!

- So, what is in your hand?

- You may say, “I’m just a teacher” or “Just an engineer.”

- No you’re not! You are God’s vessel to be used for God’s purposes!

- Nothing is impossible through you!

- What’s in your hand?

- It’s not just a pencil or an instrument.

- It is whatever God wants it to be , however he wants to use it to reach the world for Jesus!

- Today, don’t limit yourself based on your abilities.

- Dedicate yourself and anything you possess to the Lord.

- It’s all about God and what He can do, not what you can do!

- Take what you have and release it to the Great “I AM”

- Have a great Thursday!
