DEVO. 02.24.25
“‘Forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment].” [Matthew 6:12 (AMP) ]
- How have you been doing with forgiveness?
- It’s important to remember what you’ve been forgiven of if you want to receive His forgiveness.
- Forgiveness is a vitally important part of your Christian walk.
- When Jesus taught us about prayer, he said, “Forgive as…”
- As what? “...as we have forgiven”
- In other words, you cannot receive forgiveness if you are unwilling to give it to others!
- You will never possess what you are unwilling to pass on!
- So, have you forgiven that person who criticized you?
- Have you forgiven that person who let you down?
- I love how the Amplified translation says, “Letting go of both the wrong and the resentment”
- If there is resentment stuffed down inside of you, then you haven’t forgiven.
- If you have to keep talking about it, then you haven’t forgiven.
- You’ve got to let go and get rid of the bitterness and the resentment!
- It’s the difference between soaring like an eagle or living in the barnyard like a chicken.
- You were created to soar but if you keep ingesting things that you should let go of it will always weigh you down.
- One of the big differences between eagles and chickens is what they eat.
- What they take in.
- Chickens, by instinct, will eat their own droppings!
- To be more clear, poop.
- Poop is what should be discarded.
- It’s what needs to be left behind but chickens eat it.
- When we choose not to forgive, it’s like holding onto the thing that should be thrown away.
- When you hold onto things that should be released, it will weigh you down.
- Ask yourself, “Am I holding onto something that I need to let go of”?
- If it's not forgiven and dealt with then you will come back to it in your thoughts and emotions and you will eat it.
- That bitterness and resentment is not a good diet and steals real life from you.
- You get nothing positive or beneficial in your life by dwelling on what should be released.
- You will never have the ability to soar if you are feeding on things that you should have released.
- Today, you have a choice.
- Choose to forgive!
- Choose to let it go!
- And experience the freedom that comes from forgiveness!
