DEVO. 01.20.24
“Honor the Lord with your wealth And with the first fruits of all your crops (income); [Deut 26:2; Mal 3:10; Luke 14:13, 14]” (Proverbs 3:9 AMP)
- If I am going to “Honor” God with my wealth, that means that I am going to recognize Him as the source.
- Everything we have flows from God’s hand.
- If I honor Him then I am thanking Him and placing value on how he has chosen to bless me.
- In the Bible, the offering of first fruits involved giving the first and best portion of the harvest to God.
- It’s commonly known as the first 10%
- When you give God the first and the best, it symbolizes trust in His provision for the future.
- God has the ability to provide and bless more than any other.
- You can’t expect verse either trust in yourself and the best that you can produce or the best that God can produce.
- At the start of this year we have chosen to pray and fast for 21 days and offer our bodies as a living sacrifice unto the Lord.
- We have said, God we are going to Honor you first!
- Now, in addition to honoring Him with our bodies, let’s not forget to honor Him with our wealth.
- Proverbs 3:10 goes on to say, “Then your barns will be abundantly filled And your vats will overflow with new wine.”
- Then? When?
- When you offer to God the first and the best through your tithes and offerings, you can expect the, “Then”
- We all want the barns that are overflowing but it doesn’t come without the preceding verse which says to honor the Lord with our wealth.
- It’s the principle of the first fruits.
- You can’t expect verse 10 unless you obey verse 9.
- It’s all the Lords in the first place, it’s just a matter of you recognizing the Lord and Honoring Him with it.
- Do worry and don’t live in fear because He can supply all your needs according to His riches in Glory!
- This is all a matter of trust.
- Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
- Trusting in the Lord involves your finances as well as every other area of your life!
- Trust Him and watch Him provide and bless!
- Have a great Monday!
