DEVO. 01.16.25
“Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.” Matthew 8:3 (NLT)
- This is the story of Jesus, coming down the mountain into a large gathering of people who were there for Him!
- You could say, He was the most important person in the room!
- Everyone was gathering around Him!
- He could choose who he talked to and who he didn’t want to talk to.
- He could decide who he wanted to minister to.
- This man with leprosy, an obvious outcast, approaches Jesus.
- First, I think it’s important that he knew that he could approach Jesus.
- He went right up to Jesus, without fear of rejection.
- Jesus was approachable to the outcast.
- Matthew 8:2 says, “Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.””(Matthew 8:2)
- Second, Jesus recognized the outcast and was willing to help him.
- Verse 3 says, “Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.”
- Jesus didn’t run the other way!
- Jesus wasn’t afraid of getting leprosy.
- Jesus didn’t care what anyone thought.
- he said, “I am willing! Be healed!”
- You know, that’s what Jesus has done for all of us.
- Leprosy is just a picture of sin. We all have it.
- Romans 3:23 says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
- And just like this man with leprosy, Jesus is completely approachable.
- And He is completely willing to forgive you and cleanse you from all sin.
- 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”
- Everyone can be cleansed. And not only that, we are told to go and do as Jesus has done.
- We need to be as approachable as Jesus.
- We need to be ready to forgive and restore like Jesus.
- You may be the only Jesus that people see!
- Go and do to others as He has done to you!
- Have a great Thursday!
