DEVO. 10.22.25
“Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12 NLT)
- The Apostle Paul is telling Timothy to “Hold tightly” to eternal life!
- The same is true for us.
- Not a loose grip, but we need to “hold tightly.”
- We can’t treat it as a casual stroll through the park.
- This Christian life is a race.
- Think of your faith as the baton that you carry in a relay race, before handing it off to your teammate.
- You want to have a tight hold on that baton so that you do not lose it.
- You don’t want it to fly out of your hand or fumble it before the handoff.
- Focus on it with the grip that you have.
- In scripture, we are told to run with perseverance and we are told to run to win!
- So if we are to hold tightly, then how do we do that?
- We are told in verse 11, “…run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.”
- Run from evil and run to godly living!
- Run from fear and run to faith!
- Run from hate and run to love.
- Don’t be consumed with worldly living and a worldly mindset.
- Hold tightly to the Word of God and read it every day!
- As you hold the Word, learn to pray the Word.
- Carry it in your heart and mind and don’t let go!
- Disregard anything that contradicts the Word of God!
- This is what God has called you to!
- It’s not something “you do,” it’s someone “you are.”
- Hold tightly and run well!
- Have a great Wednesday!
