DEVO 09.25.25
“When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.”
(Matthew 25:5 NLT)
- What do you do when there is a delay?
- You expected one thing and then nothing happened.
- Do you give up?
- Well, that’s exactly what happened with these 10 bridesmaids.
- They were waiting expectantly but then the groom did not come when they expected.
- The bridegroom came in His timing.
- 5 were prepared and 5 were unprepared.
- Oil represents the Holy Spirit. Five were filled with the Spirit and five were not.
- They all fell asleep but when the midnight cry rang out they all woke up and trimmed their lamps.
- That means that they trimmed the wicks and added oil and lit them.
- They all realized that they needed light!
- Some had what was necessary, the oil, and they were prepared!
- Others did not!
- How about when you experience a delay? When things don’t go the way that you expected?
- Do you give up?
- What do you do when you have to wait on the bridegroom’s timing and not yours?
- Isaiah 40:31 says, “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
- Wait on the Lord, not on your own timing!
- Trust in Him, but be filled with His Spirit in the waiting!
- Grow deep roots in Him by His Spirit!
- Regain your expectancy and anticipation by His Spirit!
- You can be sure of this , the bridegroom will come!
- Will you be ready & prepared?
- Have a great Thursday!
