DEVO. 06.29.26
“Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.” (Psalms 51:12)
- Your Salvation has Joy!
- This Psalm by David came after he was confronted by the prophet Nathan because he had committed adultery with Bathsheba.
- The adultery was sin and sin carries a weight of shame and guilt.
- David was carrying that shame
- But David was wise enough to know that even though he was wrong, he could still come to God, repent of his sin and be renewed!
- He says, “Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.”
- He is basing it all on God’s unfailing love!
- God doesn’t give us mercy because of how good we are or how well we fix things when they are broken.
- He shows us mercy because of His Love that never fails.
- David says, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation.”
- To Restore means that it is put back to its original condition. It means to be reestablished!
- Your salvation came with joy!
- When you give your life to Christ, there is a freedom and a peace that He gives you that is unlike anything else.
- The result is joy!
- He is the giver of Joy!
- Sin is a joy robber!
- Every time you sin, it is missing God’s plan and Gods best for your life.
- That missing of the mark robs you of your joy!
- So instead of walking around defeated and discouraged and carrying the weight of that sin, simply confess and repent!
- 1John 1:9 says, “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”
- Jesus can cleanse ALL sin!
- His precious blood was poured out for all!
- And that’s where the Restoration process takes place!
- You repent and He restores!
- When He restores, He brings joy!
- He takes away the burden that you have been carrying.
- Regardless of how bad or how evil your sin was, when you repent, He forgives and restores!
- Psalm 51:2 says that He can “Wash you and clean from all your guilt and Purify you from your sin.”
- That’s where your joy comes from!
- So when you mess up and sin, don’t run from Him, run to Him and embrace the Joy of your salvation!
- Have a great Monday!
