DEVO. 06.20.25
““Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has done this, I will not do what I promised during his lifetime. It will happen to his sons; I will destroy his dynasty.”” (1 Kings 21-29 NLT)
- Do you need some of the mercy and grace of God this morning?
- Do you need some forgiveness and restoration?
- Maybe this morning you feel like you have messed up too bad or drifted too far from the Lord.
- Maybe you feel beyond repair.
- If so, take a look at this story about King Ahab.
- The Lord literally said to Elijah, “Do you see?”
- In other words, “Take notice”
- And who was it that He wanted to take notice of?
- King Ahab!
- Kings 21:25 says, “(No one else so completely sold himself to what was evil in the Lord’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel.”
- No one else was as evil as King Ahab!
- He was the worst of the worst!
- God said that the members of his family would die and be eaten by dogs!
- Judgment had already been pronounced!
- But when Ahab heard this, he humbled himself before the Lord.
- Ahab fasted and prayed and dressed in burlap and even slept in burlap!
- Then Elijah received a message from the Lord that said, “Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before me?”
- God sees!
- He sees when we truly repent!
- God sees when we humble ourselves!
- And not only does God see, but God responds with mercy!
- 1John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”
- He is faithful & just!
- Today, if you are stuck in sin…
- If you feel weighed down with your mistakes…
- If you feel broken beyond repair.
- Take a lesson from the most wicked king Ahab!
- Even he repented and received grace and mercy from God.
- If you confess, He will cleanse you!
- Romans 10:13 says, “For Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
- Everyone!
- Today, call on His name and receive His grace & mercy!
- Have a great Weekend!
