DEVO. 06.11.25
“But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’”
(Matthew 7:23 NLT)
- This is a very sobering scripture
- Jesus is saying that there will be “Many” who call him “Lord” and expect to enter the kingdom of heaven
- The word many means “most” or the majority.
- So, what did they miss?
- They missed “Knowing Him”
- Jesus said that He would reply, “I never knew you”
- So, this person thought they had a relationship with Him because of all of their activity that they had done “for him.”
- They were busy, busy, busy.
- They would Put a label on their activity and say, “this was done for Jesus.” But they would never spend the time to actually be with Jesus.
- They got the part about “doing the will of the father” but they missed the part of “being in His presence”
- “Doing” without “Being” is just work and exhausts you.
- But “Doing” after you have been in His presence, listened to His voice and heard His instruction is called “Kingdom activity” and it energizes you.
- Never, ever replace “Being” with “Doing”
- You need to Be with Him so that you will know what He wants to do through you!
- Being with Him should be of utmost importance.
- He wants you to sit and stay and rest in His presence.
- Don’t hurry the time.
- Get to know Him.
- Then out of the intimacy He will birth in your heart the things that He wants you to do to accomplish His will!
- The most important moment of your life will be when you stand before the Lord on Judgment day.
- It will be just you. Not your parents, your teacher, your pastor or your best friend. Just you.
- Picture yourself standing there right now
- Can Jesus truly say, “I know you“?
- Will he say, “Enter into my kingdom”?
- Today, spend however much time you need to spend in His presence until you can answer that with an emphatic, “Yes”
- But it’s not a one time occurrence.
- Every day make spending time with Him the most important part of your day.
- The goal is to “know Him” and for Him to “Know you”
- Have a great Wednesday.
