DEVO. 05.26.26

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

‭‭(Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

- Yesterday we had the most amazing experience at a church at the top of a mountain in Uganda.

- The only way to get to this church was up a steep, rocky path.

- You could not drive up this path

- The only way up was on foot, and it was not easy.

- At the top of this mountain was a church that we taught at.

- There were no billboards for this church.

- No special advertisements.

- I didn’t even know that there was a church building at the top.

- But there were over 500 people there waiting to hear the word of God.

- They were full of joy and hungry for the Word!

- Hungry and thirsty people who would not be denied.

- Matthew 5:6 tells us that they are blessed and they will be filled!

- They didn’t come to be entertained.

- They came to be taught the Word of God for 6 hours and then wait in line to receive their very own Bible!

- If we are honest, we would never do that!

- Let me ask you, are you hungry for the Word of God like this?

- Are you thirsty for His presence like this?

- We are not.

- I’ll tell you why, because we have everything we need in the palm of our hand and we are satisfied

- Let this challenge you to pursue more of His presence!

- Get hungry again!

- Stop filling yourself with the world’s entertainment so that you produce a Holy Hunger!

- You cannot hunger and thirst for righteousness if you are filled up and satisfied with the things of this world!

- People who are constantly eating are not hungry. Just like those who need constant entertainment.

- Constant social media will never produce a hunger for His presence

- Matthew 6:25 says, “Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” (33) “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”‭

- Let’s create a hunger together!

- Empty yourself of the world’s food in order to be empty.

- And only when you are empty will you truly have room to be filled!
