“Moses proceeded to do everything just as the Lord had commanded him.”
(Exodus 40:16 NLT)
- Moses was setting up the Tabernacle of the Lord.
- Exodus 40:1 says, “Then the Lord said to Moses, '“Set up the Tabernacle on the first day of the new year.”'
- “The Lord said” and Moses did as the Lord commanded.
- That was the order. The Lord spoke, Moses listened, and Moses obeyed.
- Imagine if Moses did not like where the Lord wanted to place the Ark of the Covenant. What if he wanted it outside the curtain instead of inside?
- Or imagine if Moses didn’t feel like the gold incense altar belonged in front of the Ark of the Covenant? He wanted it behind instead of in front?
- It didn’t matter what Moses felt like. This was God’s house! God had a specific purpose and a place for everything in His tabernacle.
- God is a God of order and if Moses moved things around, it would be “Out of Order.”
- The reason God chose to use Moses the way that He did was because Moses did everything “just as the Lord had commanded him.”
- Moses didn’t do things based on his feelings!
- Moses did things as the Lord instructed.
- Today, we understand that 1 Corinthians 6:19 says, “Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.”
- Your body is God's dwelling place.
- God has an order and He has called you to live a Holy and blameless life by the power of the Holy Spirit!
- It’s important to listen to His voice and follow His instructions.
- If Moses knew how to listen and do “everything just as the Lord had commanded him.” then, how much more are we supposed to listen to His Word and His voice and follow and obey?
- Today, get alone with Jesus, get in His Word, pray and follow the next thing He tells you to do.
- Don’t base your decisions on your feelings, do things as the Lord commands.
- Have a great Thursday.
