DEVO. 03.31.25
“Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” (Luke 9:23-24 NLT)
- Jesus says that if you want to be called His follower, “You Must” do this…
- There are suggestions and there are commands. This is a command.
- It’s NOT a “good idea””
- It’s NOT a good suggestion.
- It’s NOT a wise proverb.
- It’s a command!
- 1 John 2:16 says, “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.”
- “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.”
- Today, make the decision to fall out of love with the World and fall in love with Jesus!
- You’ve heard the expression “Use it or lose it”
- Think of it this way, Use your life for Jesus and the Kingdom of God or you will lose it spiritually and for eternity.
- What are the of areas of your life where you have been pursuing worldly desire or pleasure.
- It’s time to die to those things and pursue Jesus.
- Choose to die! Die to acceptance from the world and worldly desires.
- That death will lead to Real life!
- Jesus said, “For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?”(9:25)
- What if you got it all and achieved it all and were liked by everyone but in the end lost your soul?
- How tragic in view of eternity!
- Today, look at the eternal significance!
- Jesus says that we need to die, daily!
- That means that every day there are going to be things that creep into your heart and steal the true life that Christ has for you.
- Every day is a chance to die.
- But, every day is also a chance to choose life! The life that Christ has for you!
- Have a great Monday!
