DEVO 11.17.23

DEVO. 11.17.23

“When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you." And Elisha said, "Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me."”

(‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

- This portion of scripture is from right before Elijah is taken up in a chariot of fire. - Elijah, the great prophet, said to Elisha, "Ask what I shall do for you? - Elisha has an option. Ask Big or ask small! - Ask for something easy or something difficult. - And Elisha went for it! - He asked as big as he could ask! - He asked for something that he had never seen before. - He asked for MORE! - He asked for Double! - And Elijah said, “You have asked a difficult thing,” - And the amazing thing is that he got what he asked for. - He asked for more and he received more! - He took part in twice as many miracles as Elijah. - Elijah took part in 14 recorded miracles and Elisha saw 28. - Do you know that is the same thing that Jesus says to you today? - Today, Jesus says to you, “what do you want me to do for you?” - In Matthew 7:8, Jesus says “For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” - So what is your “Big Ask”? - Or have you given up on asking God for anything big and simply settled for what you can pull off on your own? - Have you settled for the ordinary instead of the extraordinary? - Today, take a look at your requests. - Philippians 4:6 says, “In every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” - “Present your request!” - Make it known! - James 4:2 says, “You do not have because you do not ask God.” - ‭‭So, what are you missing out on simply because you haven’t asked? - It’s time to dust off those God given dreams that you set on a shelf years ago. - It time to dig up the miracle request that you buried in the ground years ago because you decided that it was to big for God. - We need the boldness of Elisha, to ask BIG. - Get your passion back! - Stir your faith up, once again! - Today, ask “BIG ASK” prayers. - What do you have to lose? - 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”” - ‭‭Have a great Weekend!
