DEVO. 11.12.24
“For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
(Philippians 2:13 NKJV)
- In the verse prior to this, the Apostle Paul is telling us to, “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;”
- ”Work out” means that you “Live out” what is already in you!
- With “fear and trembling” means that you need to take it seriously.
- The way you live is a reflection of who is within you!
- Following Jesus is not about obeying a set of rules.
- It’s about a deep, intimate relationship.
- Religion says, “do this and don’t do that,” and once you have completed every task perfectly, you can obtain the expected results.
- But a relationship with Jesus is when Jesus says, “Grab my hand, walk with me and I will show you every step of the way. Just keep holding My hand and I will guide you. Don’t let go!”
- He says that He will “do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” (Ephesians 3:20)
- But you have to first understand that “it is God who works in you.”
- It’s God, not you!
- No matter how much willpower you have or how much determination you possess, it’s not good enough!
- You need the power of the Holy Spirit!
- The Holy Spirit gives you the will and the power to do for His good pleasure.
- He can strengthen you, energize you and create in you the longing and the ability to fulfill His purpose!
- The will to do and the power to do!
- First, as you walk with Jesus, He gives you the desire; then not only does He give you the desire, but He also gives you the power and ability to accomplish what you now desire!
- This is what gives Him pleasure!
- So today, tell Jesus how much you love Him. Then ask Him to create new desires that will help you to accomplish all that He has planned for you.
- Have a great Tuesday!
