DEVO. 11.08.23
“You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah” Psalms 3:3-4 NKJV
- Out of my despair, I cried to the Lord and He heard me. - Then it says SELAH! - Most of the time, we skip over that word Selah. - We rush onto the next verse, without considering what the word, Selah, means - Selah means for us to pause and reflect. - Often times when we seek the Lord we can forget to pause and listen. - In your daily encounter today, take a moment to pause and ask the Lord what He wants to speak to you through His Word! - The Psalmist David is fleeing from his son Absalom who is trying to overthrow his kingdom. - David says, I cried to the lord, and he heard me! What does that mean? - Well, he just declared who the Lord was. - He said, the Lord is “a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head” - He is declaring that if the Lord is his defender. - And if the Lord heard you, then the Lord is going to respond! - It’s like a parent who sees that their child is being treated unfairly and being ganged up against. - A parent will jump in to rescue and chase the enemy away! - And if our God heard David then God will hear any of his children who call out to him and He will respond. - Today, call out to God! - When you call on His name, He hears you. - Just as, He was David’s shield, He is your Shield and protector! - Just as He held David’s head up, He will hold your head up high! - You can trust him! - He will fight for you! - When you call on his name, he will answer! - And if He hears you, He will respond! - Have a great Wednesday! - Selah
