DEVO. 11.03.23

“Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.” (Hebrews‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- Are you experiencing struggles or suffering? - Have you started to think that God has abandoned you? - Have you started to think that you must be suffering because of something that you did wrong? - Look at Hebrews 5 as it speaks about God’s own Son, Jesus. - It says that he “learned obedience” from His suffering. - That means that if Jesus had to go through suffering in order to learn some things then His followers will, also. - Jesus, who had never been disobedient, still had to learn some things that could only come through suffering. - There is a special obedience, which is, learned obedience. - Learned obedience only comes through suffering. - Jesus obedience led Him directly to suffering. - His obedience led Him to the cross! - Philippians 2:8 says that, “He (Jesus) humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross.” - ‭‭There was a purpose in Jesus’ pain. - Jesus’ full obedience resulted in our salvation. - If Jesus was not obedient then you & I would not have redemption by the blood of Jesus. - That is the result of His obedience. - So even though you may be suffering, please don’t automatically assume that it’s Gods displeasure with you. - Go to God and seek His perspective. - Continue to be faithful and obedient to the Lord. - James 4:9 says, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” - That means that as you go through your struggle, you need to get as close to God as possible. - As you get close to Him, you get His presence to help you through it and His perspective to help understand it! - You may be surprised to find Gods promise on the other side of the pain. - Today, persevere through the pain in order to get to His promise! - Have a great weekend!
