DEVO. 10.17.23
“In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.” (1 Timothy 2:8 NLT)
- Try this, today, as you spend time with the Lord and worship Him for His greatness! - Try lifting your hands up to God. - You may say, “I don’t do that!” - Have you ever asked “why not?” - It’s not a Penecostal thing, or a charismatic thing, it’s a Bible thing! - The apostle Paul encourages us to lift our hands to the Lord! - When your hands are lifted to the Lord, you aren’t carrying any of your problems, or struggles! - They are lifted and empty! - When your hands are lifted to the Lord, they aren’t against another person! - When your hands are lifted to the Lord, they are considered holy! - Holy because they are lifted to the one who is Holy and declares you Holy because of what Jesus has done for you! - You only lift your hands for one reason, to surrender! - So when you lift both of your hands everyone knows what you are doing! - It’s surrendering to someone! - It’s a very vulnerable position! - You can’t defend yourself. - It’s humbling. - Hands raised to the Lord, speaks volumes to everyone who sees without you saying a word! - Now, why would you not want to do that? - There’s only one reason…Pride. - Pride says, “what will people think about me?” - But humility says, “I want people to think about Him!” - John 3:30 says, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” - When you lift your hands to the Lord, you are saying, “I praise you and lift you up over everything in my life! Over every struggle, every problem, every other person! God, I’m going to get smaller as you become greater!” - Express to the Lord how great He is, today, by lifting your hands in worship! - Have a great Tuesday!
