DEVO. 10.11.24
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalms 23:4 NIV)
- When we were going through our hurricane and experiencing tornadoes the Lord kept placing on my heart the 23rd Psalm.
- The part that stood out more than anything else was this phrase, “You are with me!”
- The psalmist was saying that, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley…”
- In other words, all of us are going to go through dark days and valley’s.
- All of us!
- But that’s not the point.
- The point is, who are you going through the valley with.
- We all will face fearful things.
- We all will experience dark days.
- But what a powerful thing when you can say, “The Lord is with me.”
- You don’t have to go through it alone.
- The Creator of all things is with me!
- “You ARE” means that He is present in the moment!
- It doesn’t say, “You were”
- It doesn’t say, “You will be”
- Although both of those are true.
- The most important thing is when you can say, “You ARE with me”
- “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalms 46:1 )
- He is present in your trouble and present in your struggle and His presence literally change’s everything!
- He can speak peace to any storm, even if the storm is in your mind or heart!
- He says, “Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
- When going through trouble, you need comfort more than anything else.
- Comfort says, “you are going to get through this!”
- That’s what His presence brings. It brings comfort!
- Today, don’t look at the size of your problems. Look at the size of your God and thank Him for being with you!
- Have a great weekend!
