DEVO. 10.03.24
“So be alert [give strict attention, be cautious and active in faith], for you do not know which day [whether near or far] your Lord is coming.” (Matthew 24:42 AMP)
- Jesus is telling His disciples to be alert!
- Pay attention!
- This is really important!
- Our society today is filled with more and more energy drinks designed to keep people alert and awake.
- We sell “5 Hour Energy” shots
- We have double & triple shot coffee drinks.
- We have espresso.
- Every form of energy drink with extra sugar and caffeine possible!
- These are all designed to keep you alert physically but Jesus is talking about spiritual alertness.
- We need to put just as much alertness into our spiritual lives as we see our society putting into our physical bodies.
- Because what good is it to be awake physically, if you are never awake spiritually?
- Alert means that you have given strict attention to your faith and you are looking at the sign of His return!
- Whether you think his return is close or far, that doesn’t matter!
- Jesus could literally return at any moment, and that is a moment that you don’t want to miss!
- Trust me, you don’t want to be saying, “I wish I had payed attention.”
- You don’t want to be the person who thought you had all the time in the world only to realize, you are out of time.
- Jesus calls that kind of a servant, “Evil”.
- He says, “But if that servant is evil and says in his heart, ‘My master is taking his time [he will not return for a long while],’” (Matthew 24:48 AMP)
- Please examine what the Bible says about the end times and the return of Christ!
- You don’t want to be the person that Jesus calls evil, just because you decided in your heart that you had plenty of time.
- 2 Corinthians 6:2 says, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
- NOW!
- This is a NOW moment!
- Seize the moment, be alert and be ready!
- Have an active faith, not a passive faith!
- You are living in an amazing time, so let’s spiritually be watching and waiting!
- Jesus is coming!
- Have a great Thursday!
