DEVO 09.22.23

DEVO. 09.22.23

“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.” (‭‭Micah‬ ‭7:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

- This Sunday evening, at sundown, begins Yom Kippur. - This is a time recognized as Gods holiest day! - It’s a day where God shows us His mercy! - We serve a God of Mercy! - Not only that, but it is His delight to show mercy! - God’s mercy means His pity, compassion, and kindness toward His people. - It is totally undeserved but he freely offers it! - Mercy means that you don’t get what you deserve. - Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death” - That means that what you deserve and what you earn from your life of sin and missing a perfect and right relationship with God is death and eternal separation from God. - His Mercy says that you don’t get that. - Then Gods Grace steps in and says, You get what you don’t deserve! - That’s the second half of Romans 6:23. This speaks of Gods mercy and Grace . It goes on to say, “but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (AMP‬) - ‭You deserve death, but He’s not going to give you that. That’s Mercy! - Instead, He is going to give you Eternal life connected to Jesus Christ. That’s Grace! - This Sunday, when you recognize Yom Kippur, remember and thank Him for His mercy. - Lean in and ask for His mercy! - Spend time asking for it and receiving it. - Then walk away in His Grace! - You didn’t earn it but it is freely offered. - Thank Him for both His Mercy and Grace! - Have a great weekend!
