DEVO. 09.20.23
“Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4 NKJV)
- Jesus is saying that we are blessed, when we mourn. - To be blessed means to be forgiven and refreshed by Gods grace. - So why would it say that you are refreshed and forgiven by Gods grace when you mourn? - Usually we equate mourning with sadness due to the loss of someone or something. - The mourning that this is referring to is mourning due to sin - So, we are refreshed when we grieve over our sin in our life that has separated us from God - Sin always cost us something - In this case, sin costs us our relationship with God. - It is harming the one who loves us the most. - So when we mourn, it is repentance. - It is to be convicted of the sin and sorrowful for what you’ve done. - Because, that sin leaves us with a burden that weighs us down. - When we mourn and repent, the burden is lifted - We no longer have to carry it anymore - The debt has been paid - We are clean and pure! - That’s true comfort! - So, today, is there any sin or weight that you’ve been carrying. - Don’t let it weigh you down one more second! - Give it to Jesus. - Get rid of the curse and experience His blessing! - Have a great Wednesday!
