DEVO. 09.19.24
“I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.” (Psalms 62:1-2 NLT)
- Have you learned to wait on the Lord?
- Simply wait!
- I think our ability to wait, has been lost in our society.
- We have become obsessed with doing things faster in an effort to accomplish more in less time.
- So instead of using that time wisely, we just pack more things in.
- For the most part, in our obsession, we have sacrificed quality for quantity.
- In our frantic pace of life, we miss out on the still small voice of God.
- When we face problems, we jump in to fix it, as fast as we can.
- When we do that we end up with the results that come from our hands.
- The reality is that we settle for what we can do.
- But God doesn’t want us to settle with all that we can do. He wants us to open our hands and surrender it to Him.
- He wants to hear us say, “I can’t, but I know you can!”
- He wants to hear us cry out and say, “My victory comes from You, Lord.”
- He is listening to hear, “You alone are my Rock and Salvation”
- Not “me alone”, but “You alone”
- “You alone” means no intervention on my behalf.
- When you slow down and wait, it may take longer than you expected.
- It may stretch your soul.
- It may prolong your patience.
- You may feel ready to break but wait on Him.
- His way is best and His way is right.
- In your time of waiting, pray!
- Get in His Word, while you wait!
- As you wait, you are not just waiting “on Him”, but “in Him”
- You find that you are in Him and His presence is in you.
- Isaiah 40:31 says, "But those who wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
- So, instead of being worn out and burning out, you find renewed strength!
- Nothing will be able to shake you!
- Today, rediscover waiting.
- Waiting will lead to expecting and hoping in Him.
- Have a great Thursday!
