DEVO 08.18.23

DEVO. 08.18.23

“This man had a very beautiful and lovely young cousin, Hadassah, who was also called Esther. When her father and mother died, Mordecai adopted her into his family and raised her as his own daughter.” ‭‭(Esther‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- This verse is our introduction to Esther.

- At first glance it may look like unfortunate circumstances.

- Esther’s parents died and she was raised by her uncle, Mordecai.

- Mordecai’s family had been taken out of their home in Jerusalem and exiled to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar.

- Here is Esther, far from her home and her identity.

- She could very easily feel out of place and unimportant.

- This story, at this point, looks like a messy puzzle without the box top!

- Only God knows how to put the pieces perfectly together to make a beautiful picture.

- And that is exactly how he positioned Esther, and it is exactly how he positioned you.

- Don’t look at your messy puzzle pieces and try to figure it out.

- Turn to God in the middle of the confusion, and in the middle of the mess, and ask him to reveal himself, His purpose, and His plan!

- Follow Him and trust Him, one piece at a time!

- God is about to take this displaced girl out of obscurity, and bring her into the center of his story!

- It’s a beautiful story and the perfect puzzle that was never missing any pieces.

- Esther is one of those pieces, but the completed picture is God’s.

- It’s His story and you are a piece.

- As God positions the pieces, Esther is brought to the forefront, and is selected to be the queen, where she eventually saves Gods people from being totally wiped out.

- At the most climactic part of this story, her Uncle Mordecai says to her, “If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”” (Esther‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬)

- God placed Esther in the right place, at the right time and in the right circumstances, in order to bring glory to his name and salvation to his people.

- I don’t know your “why”, “where”, or “how”, but I do know that we have a great God who wants to fulfill His promise, through you!

- Remember, it’s always too soon to give up!

- Have a great weekend!
