DEVO 08.17.23

DEVO. 08.17.23

Then the woman left her water jar, and went into the city and began telling the people,“Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done! Can this be the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed)?” (John 4:28-29)

- Question: What are the things that you leave behind? - Answer: The things that aren’t important, anymore. - This Samaritan woman had gone to this well with a purpose. - The purpose was to fill her water jar in order to meet her physical need. - She even went during the hottest part of the day, in order to avoid other problems, so that means that, that was her sole purpose in going to that well. - It was important! - Suddenly, that wasn’t important anymore. - Why? - Something, or should I say, someone, became more important. - A thirst had been quenched! - Her need had been met! - Only, it wasn’t her physical thirst, it was her spiritual thirst. - With one encounter with Jesus, she discovered that the spiritual was greater than the physical! - All her life, she had been thirsty but she did not know how to meet that need. - She had tried different men, people and situations, but the end result was always the same…She was still thirsty. - It could have been a man with money, or a man who had recognition. - It could have been a man who was kind or a man who controlled everything. - It could have been a man who did all the work or one who made her do all thew work. - Different situation but the same end result - Thirsty! - Until Jesus! - Then she left the jar behind! - What is it that you need to leave behind? - What is that important thing, that if you just had one real encounter with Jesus, you could drop it, disregard it and your life would be changed! - Today, meet with Jesus! - Talk with Jesus! - But don’t leave until He has truly met with you! - Encounter Jesus and you can leave your burdens behind! - You will find that a real encounter with Him, heals everything! - Have great Thursday!
