DEVO. 8.13.24
“My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.”
2 Chronicles 7:15 NLT
- Today is the saddest day on the Jewish calendar.
- It is the 9th day of the month of Av.
- It’s the day when the spies, who checked out the promised Land that God had led them to, gave a bad report and said that they could not enter.
- It’s a day when both of the Holy temples in Jerusalem were destroyed.
- It’s a day when seemingly, if something bad is going to happen, it happens on this day.
- But is also a day of prayer and fasting.
- Instead of expecting the bad, we can learn from our past.
- Why? Why was their temple destroyed.
- It was because they abandoned their God and stopped following His ways.
- The second temple was because they crucified their Messiah.
- We can always learn from the past, whether it’s the nation of Israel or our own life.
- The Lord says, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
- When we find ourselves in the middle of a mess, regardless of why or how it has happened, it’s a time to return to the Lord.
- When we do that, the Lord says that His eyes are open and His ears are listening, not just “some of the prayers”, but “Every prayer made”
- EVERY PRAYER!
- That’s a promise of God! It’s something that all of us can do.
- When you humble yourself and pray, you can be assured that God is listening!
- Today, don’t complain about the bad.
- Instead, Pray and praise Him because you know that you have a God who hears your prayers and He will act on your behalf!
- God bless you!
- Have a great Tuesday.
