DEVO. 07.27.23
“Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.” )Jude 1:3 NIV)
- Contend!
- This is a Greek Word, “epagonizomai”. It means to struggle or to be under great stress
- Your faith, can’t be a casual “walk in the park”
- You really do have an enemy, Satan.
- And if you are not contending for your faith, your enemy will be contending for it and for you.
- He is currently contending to pull you away from Christ.
- You will have doubts
- You will face fears
- It is an all out war.
- You can’t have a watered down Faith.
- You can’t have a mixture of compromise.
- You are a contender!
- You must realize “Who you are” and “What you have”
- Even if it is costly, and it most definitely will be, you must exert yourself in defense of truth and God’s Word!
- You must stand for truth, purity and holiness!
- You may not be popular but with all the resistance, you have to see yourself as “more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37 )
- When you stand for truth, Truth comes along and backs you up!
- Truth is a person!
- Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6)
- He is not a concept, He is a person!
- And when you contend for the faith, you are contending for Jesus.
- When you contend for Him, He will contend for you!
- Jude 1:3 says that this is “Entrusted to God’s holy people.”
- Jesus is trusting that you will be a contender!
- He has trusted you with this responsibility!
- So today, Contend for your faith!
- Fight for it!
- Have a great Thursday!
