DEVO 07.16.23

DEVO. 07.17.23

Then, going over to the people who sold doves, he told them, “Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!” ‭‭(John‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

- Why did Jesus say, “Get these things out of here?” - Because they didn’t belong! - The Lords house was to be a place where God was honored and where He was worshipped. - Instead it had become a place of buying and selling - The selling of animals for sacrifice had turned into extortion. - They inflated the prices of the animals and rejected peoples animals by saying they had blemishes when they did not. Then they would sell a temple animal to them at these high prices. - This infuriated Jesus. - This was not the purpose of Gods house. - In ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬, it says, “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,” - It’s easy to spot the things that were out of order in the temple but how about “Your Temple”? - That verse clearly says that, “You are not your own.” - Your “Rights” are now God’s! - He must be your Lord, and if He is then you have given Him permission to own you and “call the shots” - He has the Right to bring things into order! - If there is any bitterness or un-forgiveness in your life, it’s out of order! - If there is and pride, it’s got to go! - If there is selfishness, anger, or jealousy, it’s got to go! - If there is lust or immorality, it’s got to go! - Today, ask the Lord to show you anything that is out of order and does not belong in your body, His temple! - As He reveals, choose to get rid of it. - Repent and be renewed. - Get a new heart, a new focus, and a new life! - Ask Him to show you things that you may be overlooking! - As He uncovers and reveals, be quick to remove it from your life! - It will be a freeing experience! - John 8:36 says, “if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” - ‭‭Enjoy your Freedom! - Have a great Monday!
