DEVO 07.11.23

DEVO. 07.11.23

"That is how the Lord rescued Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from King Sennacherib of Assyria and from all the others who threatened them. So there was peace throughout the land." (2 Chronicles 32:22 NLT)

- I love how verse 22 starts - "That is how The Lord Rescued...."

- It makes me wonder what your story is.

- Can you look back and say, "That is how The Lord rescued me from depression, or debt, or fear, or sickness, or a stronghold or an addiction? Of course, the list could go on.

- All of us have a story and it's important not to forget the victories however big or small.

- By remembering, you are stirring up your faith and the faith of others around you.

- You are building your faith for future victories.

- Your story will help encourage and strengthen someone else.

- Someone who desperately needs hope

- In 2 Chronicles 32, the Assyrians had invaded Judah and King Hezekiah realized they were going to attack Jerusalem.

- He also knew how strong the Assyrians were and how they had destroyed other cities before him.

- The king or Assyria and his men began to taunt and mock the people of Judah and their trust in God and told them that their God would fail to rescue them.

- But 2 Chron. 32:6 says, "Then Hezekiah encouraged them by saying: “Be strong and courageous! Don’t be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria or his mighty army, for there is a power far greater on our side! He may have a great army, but they are merely men. We have the Lord our God to help us and to fignht our battles for us!” Hezekiah’s words greatly encouraged the people.

- And the story goes on to show how God defeated the Assyrian's for him.

- V. 20 says, "Then King Hezekiah...cried out in prayer to God in heaven. And the Lord sent an angel who destroyed the Assyrian army with all its commanders and officers."

- That is How The Lord Rescued!

- When the people of Judah were completely vulnerable...

- When King Hezekiah could have given up..The Lord fought for Him.

- The Lord did what only He could do!

- What about you?

- What situation or problem has driven you to your knees?

- What are you facing that seems impossible if God doesn't intervene?

- When you call on His name, Know that God will hear, God will listen and God will act.

- Then you will be able to say to everyone - "That is how The Lord rescued me!"

- Today, learn a lesson from King Hezekiah and drop to your knees in prayer.

- 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, "Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land."

- God will Hear, God will Forgive and God will Restore!

- Your part is to pray.

- His part is to give you a story to tell.

- Begin building that story...

- The story begins with one person humbling themselves, falling to their knees in prayer and calling on their God who hears, forgives and restores.

- Keep building that story!

- Have a great Tuesday!
