HONOR HIM
"But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.” (Psalms 50:23 NLT)
- All week, our mission camp focus is on revival!
- Today, our scripture starts with Paul & Silas, in prison.
- These 2 literally started a prison revival!
- But, how?
- They began giving God thanks and praise before they saw the breakthrough!
- Instead of complaining about what they didn't have, they thank God for what they did have!
- They had a personal revival happen within them which caused them to praise.
- Psalm 50:23 in the Amplified version reads like this, “He who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me."
- By choosing to thank God and Praise Him, it both honors Him and brings glory to Him.
- Can you praise Him in the middle of difficulty?
- Can you thank Him when you haven't seen the breakthrough?
- In Acts, chapter 16, we have the story of Paul & Silas, who were severely beaten and thrown into the "Inner Dungeon".
- The Inner dungeon is the deepest darkest place.
- The place of No Escape!
- But look at what they chose to do.
- (vs.26) "Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!"
- They did not sing and praise God in order to get a breakthrough.
- They didn't praise God so that He would release them from prison.
- They didn't praise in order to receive anything.
- They simply praised Him for who He is.
- Matt. 12:34 says, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."
- Their hearts were full of love and adoration for God and out of the overflow of that, they praised!
- Despite their Circumstances!
- They chose to not focus on the temporary but the eternal.
- And as God was honored - He then brought the breakthrough.
- He revealed His salvation over their current circumstance.
- Can you choose to praise God and thank God today DESPITE your circumstances?
- Praise Him not in order to receive anything from Him, but just because He is worthy of it!
- The person who praises Him, Psalm 50:23 says, "I will reveal to you the salvation of God.”
- When you Honor Him, He will reveal and demonstrate what true salvation is!
- He will come in and invade your circumstances, today!
- Praise Him & Honor Him today, simply because of who He is!
- Then leave room for Him to demonstrate His salvation.
- Have a great Wednesday!
