EVERY WORD
“Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
(Deuteronomy 8:3 )
- Yesterday we preached in our first 2 villages in Kenya.
- People listened as we taught from Genesis to Revelation… ALL day!
- They were eager to learn!
- At the end of the day they would receive a Bible in their language, if they signed up for one.
- We were delivering hundreds of Bibles.
- The most shocking image I have stuck in my head is one young man who came and sat next to me during the preaching and was begging me for a Bible.
- His name was not on the list to receive it and he didn’t have the money for one.
- I was ready to buy him a whole box of Bibles, but people had to be on the list.
- There is more than one language here and they needed the Bible in their language.
- He kept after me when I went back to the van and I had to send him through the proper process.
- I didn’t want to mess up their system.
- I directed him to the proper person who could help him.
- Then after we had distributed the Bibles and were driving on the way home, we passed him as we were driving down the road.
- It was almost as if my whole world went into slow motion.
- Amidst all the traffic, I spotted him.
- He was walking with his Bible open and reading as he walked along the road.
- It was just like he was texting and walking except he was reading his Bible and consumed with it!
- He was hungry for the Word of God.
- This brought new understanding to me that this man “lives by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
- To be alive means to be reading, knowing and following the Word of God.
- I don’t think I am going to be the same when I come back!
- Have a great Friday!
