DEVO 05.18.24

DEVO. 05.18.24

"And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to WAIT for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me..." (Acts 1:4 NKJV)

- Do you have great ambitions and dreams that you want to do for God?

- Before you set out to conquer the world - Remember to WAIT!

- Waiting may not be your greatest attribute.

- Waiting may seem like a waste of time.

- Waiting, to you may seem unnecessary.

- Actually, if I'm going to be honest, I hate waiting!

- I hate waiting in traffic, in the drive through, long lines at the grocery store or just about waiting for anything.

- But if we are going to accomplish all that God has for us, it is absolutely critical to learn to wait on Him.

- Jesus gave His followers specific instruction before they did anything!

- Jesus COMMANDED his followers to wait.

- Not suggested, but commanded.

- The Message paraphrase puts it this way, "He told them that they were on no account to leave Jerusalem but “must wait for what the Father promised: the promise you heard from me."

- You will never accomplish God Sized assignments with human effort.

- Jesus said, "John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 1:5 NLT)

- Waiting does not mean that you do nothing.

- Acts 1:14 tells us that, "They all met together and were constantly united in prayer"

- In their waiting, they pursued Jesus!

- They prayed.

- They had no Idea what was coming, but they waited!

- They waited for His timing and His way, and as usual - His way is best!

- Acts 2: 2-4 goes on to tell us "Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability."

- These men went on to change the world!

- They did the very acts that Jesus Himself did.

- They accomplished the impossible.

- So, what things are you doing, right now, in your own strength.

- What things are you doing out of "duty", with no passion from the Spirit of God behind it?

- Have you lost your Spiritual Fire?

- Do you need refreshing?

- Do you need the wind of His Spirit?

- Do you need His healing?

- Do you need His touch: Emotionally, spiritually, financially or physically?

- Today, Stay and wait in His Presence!

- Get alone with Jesus.

- Ask for Him to fill you with His Spirit.

- Let Him do the healing and cleansing that He needs to do.

- Let Him fill you with Passion and Zeal again!

- Be filled with His Spirit in Jesus' name!

- Have a great weekend!
