DEVO. 05.04.23
“Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.” (Colossians 4:2 AMP)
- It’s National Day of Prayer!
- The Apostle Paul says that we are to be persistent and devoted to prayer.
- Persistent means in good times and through bad times.
- Devoted means, Having been consecrated; dedicated and strongly attached.
- That means that it’s not just a once in a while thing that you do.
- It means praying through the highs and lows.
- Whether you are celebrating or struggling.
- When you are weeping or when you are laughing!
- When you have needs or when all your needs are met!
- Every day is a good day to pray!
- There is no bad time to pray!
- The Apostle Paul is in prison as he writes this, and you would assume that his prayer would be to be released from prison, but no.
- His prayer is that that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ.” (4:3)
- His main prayer is to spread the name and message of Jesus, even though that is why he is in prison!
- So, he says, “being focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving”
- He is thankful for where he is because it’s another opportunity to share Christ.
- Most of us would be complaining about being in prison, but he is praying about having an attitude of thanksgiving.
- That is amazing!
- Paul has learned how to have an eternal perspective in everything!
- Let’s learn from Paul.
- Let’s have a lifestyle of prayer.
- Let’s be committed to prayer regardless of where we find ourselves.
- Let’s have an alert and focused prayer life that is focused on an attitude of thanksgiving.
- When you pray like that, it will not only change your circumstances, it will change you!
- Have a great Thursday!
